There's nothing like taking a load off as Sandringham theatre staff can attest to thanks to a recent donation of $10,000 from the Lions Club of Moorabbin.
The money enabled the purchase 10 lightweight X-ray gowns, making long surgeries a lot more comfortable. The weight of the old gowns rested on the shoulders whereas the weight in the new gowns is shifted to the hips.
Staff can wear the gowns for anywhere up to six hours, depending on the length of the surgery.
The Moorabbin Lions Club is a fantastic supporter of the hospital, donating some of the money raised from their annual golf day held at Royal Melbourne Golf Course every December.
Moorabbin Lion Jessie Brent says the organisation has donated in excess of $70,000 to the hospital over the years.
"We have a great association with Sandringham Hospital, staff there are always so appreciative of the support that we give," Jessie said.
